Budd Boetticher is one of my favorite directors. His existential westerns bridged the gap between the classic Hollywood western and the antihero westerns of the 60′s and 70′s by filmmakers such as Sergio Leone and Sam Peckinpah- to whom he was a huge inspiration. This Sunday 1/15 @ 7PM we’re hosting Cinema Club at the Alamo and presenting one of Boetticher’s finest, COMANCHE STATION.

“With ‘KID-THING’ we wanted to make a film about a particular childhood that was both funny and earnest, combining a naturalistic coming-of-age story with the qualities of a fable. From the in-the-now perspective of a child as opposed to an adult’s rose-tinted idyllic look back. Focusing on the natural moments, the beauty, the horror, the sense of discovery and curiosity, while avoiding anything maudlin or nostalgic.”
Mike Plante has great taste and a vast knowledge of film. His venture CINEMAD has been many wonderful things; a zine, a blog, a DVD almanac, a distributor and podcast. His latest podcast installment interviews the ZB’s, hopefully we did it justice. A lot of important issues were covered from Sasquatches to Salo to Chuck Berry.
